Meet Maxine McCormick
Hi, I’m Maxine, the Pre-School Manager at Parnwell. I’ve been in childcare since 2006 and have a Level 3 Early Years qualification. I absolutely love being part of the early years—it’s amazing how children absorb everything like little sponges!
I’m passionate about developing their interests, especially through messy play, and I love the relationships we build with families in the community. Watching the world through a child’s eyes is so special. I’m also lucky to have an experienced team here at Parnwell, and together we create a fun, nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and explore.

Aspirational Curriculum
Our experienced and dedicated team closely follows Star Day Nursery’s unique ASPIRE curriculum. This follows the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum in the UK (DfE, 2025).
Our curriculum focuses on five main goals: Learn, Achieve, Protect, Develop and be Ready.
With a well-rounded focus on self-growth, the community and the wider environment, you can expect your child to learn about themselves and develop an appreciation for the world around them.
As well as focusing on social interaction and communication, we also provide quieter activities to develop their thinking, imagination and independence.
Our curriculum is designed to spark their interest whilst developing their social skills and independence. We also incorporate sessions which promote healthy living.

Special Educational Needs Support
With a dedicated team and supportive, inclusive environment we can take the time to support, nurture and encourage your child with special educational needs. Our highly-qualified team is experienced with language development and supporting children with special educational needs, and we’ll make sure they thrive.
Fees & Funding from 9 months old, 2 3 & 4 years of age:
Across all Stars Day Nurseries settings we do not charge for consumables, all resources and materials are provided for your child at no extra cost. We feel that The Government ‘Best Start in Life‘ funding should be as straightforward and easy to understand as possible – choosing a nursery for your child is a tough enough decision in itself, after all. We are pleased to offer a range of flexible session options to help you make the most of your Government funded hours.
- Eligible working families can receive 30 Government Funded hours when their child reaches 9 months old
- Families receiving some additional forms of Government support receive 15 hours funded childcare.
- Eligible working families will receive 15 hours of funded childcare.
- All three and four-year-old children can get 15 hours per week of funded childcare and early years education, for 38 weeks per year. This is a total of 570 hours of funded early years education each year.
- Your child can start funded childcare in the term following your child’s third birthday, for a maximum of six terms before your child’s fifth birthday. This offer is fully inclusive of all children.
- If you require additional sessions beyond your funded hours these can be arranged- see table below for our fees.

Included in your child’s session we offer:
- A free healthy breakfast
- Free snacks
- A tailored educational curriculum based on the individual needs of the child
- A Range of additional experiences such as forest school experiences and excursions
