Butterwick Pre-School
Butterwick Pre-School
Here at Butterwick pre school we offer places from 9 months old. We nurture our children to become independent, caring and resourceful members of society with family values and community at the heart of what we do.
Our staff are highly qualified which allows us to combine specialist early years knowledge and experience with our caring nature to provide a warm, compassionate quality education to all of our children. This played a big role in achieving our ‘Good’ rating in our most recent Ofsted report.
Our modern, purpose-built environment is well-resourced to provide and promote a love for learning and a curiosity for more knowledge. Which we deliver through exploratory play. We recognise that all children are unique and therefore they learn and develop in their own special way, we aim to accommodate and facilitate all of our children’s ways of learning and growing.

Meet Our Manager
Lorna
I am a qualified teacher for children aged 3-7. This gives me the knowledge and experience to implement our educational curriculum in a way that supports children through their early years journey and will stay with them throughout their school transition and beyond. I am extremely passionate about our children gaining experiences in our settings far beyond the realms of a typical nursery or preschool so that our children develop a love of learning, exploring and being curious about the world around them.
Outside of work I am a mummy to two daughters who keep me on my toes but also my inspiration for my career. We love the theatre, animals big and small and camping. We are big foodies so enjoy going to different restaurants together after one of our little family adventures. As I get older I am trying to travel more and experience new places and culture.

Aspirational Curriculum
Aspire is our STARS unique curriculum which ensures everyone in the company focuses on ensuring the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Guidance (DfE, 2025) are met across all our provisions.
Aspire embeds the understanding of child development in the Early Years Outcomes (DfE, 2025) guidance, meeting the needs of every individual child through quality interactions and extended learning opportunities.
There are 5 main strands to our curriculum:
Learn We aspire for our children to learn about themselves, their communities and the environment.
Achieve We aspire for our children to achieve through Early Intervention and Inclusion, through learning Language for Life, and through early teaching experiences.
Protect We aspire to protect our children through our policies, procedures and multi-agency work.
Develop We aspire to develop our children through a commitment to our staff teams of monitoring performance, providing training and development opportunities, supporting wellbeing and in recognising quality practice and teaching.
be Ready We aspire for our children to be ready for their next step in life, through supporting independence, learning valuable life skills and developing confidence in themselves and their abilities.
Read more about our curriculum here or if you have any other questions please speak to our Nursery Manager Lorna who will be happy to go through this with you.
