Since opening in September 2012, Shooting Stars Pre-school Paston & Gunthorpe has established itself as one of the best nurseries in Peterborough. Now rated Ofsted Outstanding, our 32-space setting offers flexible morning, afternoon, and full-day sessions designed to give your child the very best start in education.

We welcome children aged between 2–5 years and foster a nurturing, stimulating and safe environment to help them grow into confident individuals.
Shooting Stars Pre-school is located in the heart of the neighbourhood, providing a warm and fully equipped educational setting for your child.
We prioritise not only your child’s educational requirements but also their overall well-being, safety, and happiness.
We also run a free toddler group every Monday 9.30am – 10.30am, which you can attend without booking in advance.

Situated in PE4, we are perfectly located for families living in the Paston and Gunthorpe area, as well as Werrington and Walton. We are also situated close to a number of schools including Gunthorpe Primary, Paston Ridings and the Queen Katharine Academy.

”Hi my Name is Debbie. Working with children has always been my passion, it is so rewarding seeing the children thrive and celebrating their achievements with them, no matter how big or small these are. I have worked in the childcare sector for over 20 years, its not just a job but an honor to be part of the children’s learning journey.
I have a BA Hons in Professional Studies in Early Years and continue to build my knowledge today to ensure the children have a strong foundation to explore, play, learn and achieve . I have had the pleasure of working with Stars when they very first opened Little stars in 2003 as a room leader and I returned as a manager in 2016. I have been managing Shooting Stars since 2019, leading a dedicated team where we prioritise the children, ensuring they are at the heart of everything we do.”

Special Educational Needs Support
As part of our dedication to providing an inclusive environment, we also provide support for children with special educational needs. We believe with the right care and attention all children can have a positive and nurturing start in life. We’ll ensure they have fun and are prepared for the next big step – primary school. You can also expect to be regularly invited to parent consultations and stay and play sessions to maintain an active part in your child’s development. Our staff are trained to help with a range of special educational needs, including speech and language development difficulties. Fees & Funding from 9 months old, 2 3 & 4 years of age:
Across all Stars Day Nurseries settings we do not charge for consumables, all resources and materials are provided for your child at no extra cost. We feel that The Government ‘Best Start in Life‘ funding should be as straightforward and easy to understand as possible – choosing a nursery for your child is a tough enough decision in itself, after all. We are pleased to offer a range of flexible session options to help you make the most of your Government funded hours.
- Eligible working families can receive 30 Government Funded hours when their child reaches 9 months old
- Families receiving some additional forms of Government support receive 15 hours funded childcare.
- Eligible working families will receive 15 hours of funded childcare.
- All three and four-year-old children can get 15 hours per week of funded childcare and early years education, for 38 weeks per year. This is a total of 570 hours of funded early years education each year.
- Your child can start funded childcare in the term following your child’s third birthday, for a maximum of six terms before your child’s fifth birthday. This offer is fully inclusive of all children.

Included in your child’s session we offer:
- A free healthy breakfast

We are open from 8:30am to 3:30pm Mon-Fri (Term-time only). We offer an early bird session starting at 8am.

Our lunch club runs between 11:30am–12:30pm which is available for an additional fee, but you must supply your child with a healthy packed lunch.
