Rooms at Little Stars Day Nursery
In September and October 2018 as part of our fifteen-year celebrations we refurbished all rooms in the setting. This has provided a more enabling environment for all of our children who access the setting.
In Shining Stars room, the children learn through the freedom of play, both indoors and outdoors. We provide a range of activities for the children to discover, such as messy play and body painting. The age range of children in the room varies from 3 months to 2 years and each child is allocated a key person who will plan and observe to meet their individual needs.
In Starburst, we aim to encourage and promote children’s independence as much as possible, through toilet training, meal times and self-care. We also encourage the children to learn through exploration and extension of their interests. In the Toddler room, catering for 2-3 year olds. We believe that parent/carer involvement is essential and therefore try to work together as a team at all times.
In the Superstars room we aim to provide a safe and secure environment in a homely atmosphere. We follow the EYFS curriculum which emphasizes that children learn through play so therefore provide opportunities for them to explore freely. Being a Pre-school room of children aged 3-5, we plan and provide activities that help the child's smooth transition from Nursery to school in September.
We are a pre-school room that has children from 3-5 years. In Shooting Stars, we try to prepare our children for school so there is a smooth transition when they reach that mile stone. We provide a range of activities such as our exploration table, dressing up, home-corner, mark-making and planned group times. We also support free-flow play. This means all our doors open into the garden and the children have access to the other room to experience new and exciting activities and make new friends.
In Bright Stars room we offer both morning and afternoon three-hour sessions. During our sessions, the children have the opportunity to explore a variety of activities such as, messy play experiences and role play areas, to games and puzzles. Each child has their own key person who both the child and families can build a special bond with and share both achievements and concerns.
After School Club is based in the Bright Stars Room. We collect children from Thomas Deacon Academy, All Saints and Queens Drive School. We offer a range of fun and exciting activities from cooking and playing on the computer/tablets, to dancing on the dance mat and exploring role play. We encourage the children to do their homework and reading. The holiday club provides a range of activities to keep the children entertained from 8am until 6pm with lunch, tea and snacks!
